Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Chimpanzee Tracking

Morning

7:00 AM: Depart from Kigoma by boat to Gombe Stream National Park (approx. 1-hour ride on Lake Tanganyika).
9:00 AM: Arrive at Gombe and check into your lodge/campsite.
10:00 AM: After a briefing, begin your first chimpanzee tracking adventure. Gombe's chimpanzees are known for their high level of habituation, providing excellent opportunities for close observation.

Afternoon

12:30 PM: Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
2:00 PM: Head out for a guided nature walk through Gombe’s forested trails, learning about the park's other wildlife and flora.

Evening

5:30 PM: Enjoy a sunset on the shores of Lake Tanganyika before dinner.
7:00 PM: Dinner at the lodge and overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day Chimpanzee Tracking & Kakombe Waterfalls

Morning

6:30 AM: Early breakfast to fuel up for another exciting day of chimpanzee tracking.
7:30 AM: Embark on a full-day chimpanzee tracking excursion, spending more time with these fascinating primates as they move through the forest, play, groom, and socialize.

Afternoon

12:30 PM: Picnic lunch in the park.
2:00 PM: Continue tracking the chimpanzees or take a hike to the Kakombe Waterfalls, where you can enjoy stunning views and a refreshing dip in the natural pools.

Evening

5:00 PM: Return to the lodge, unwind, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere by the lake.
7:00 PM: Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Birdwatching and Lake Tanganyika Boat Ride

Morning

7:00 AM: After breakfast, enjoy a morning birdwatching session. Gombe is home to a variety of bird species, making it a perfect spot for bird lovers.
9:00 AM: Go on a relaxing boat ride along Lake Tanganyika, soaking in the beauty of the surrounding hills and crystal-clear waters.

Afternoon

12:00 PM: Return to the lodge for lunch.
1:30 PM: Check out and begin your return boat trip to Kigoma, concluding your unforgettable Gombe safari.

Evening

3:00 PM: Arrive back in Kigoma, marking the end of your 3-day Gombe adventure.
